Lakshminath Bezbarua

LAKSHMINATH BEZBARUA Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbarua was born on 16th November 1864.His father was Dinanath Bezbarua and mother Thaneshwari Bezbarua.Bezbarua and his literary friends Hemchandra Goswami and Chandra kumar Agarwal together published a magazine 'Jonaki'.He also published and edited the magazine 'Banhi' in the year 1909.He presided over the 13th sitting of the Assam Sahitya Sabha in the year 1931.Some of his famous works are Kadam Kali,Jaymati Kunwari and Burhi Aair Sadhu etc.He was also known as 'Rasharaj' and' Sahityarathi' as well. Bezbarua also composed 'O Mor Aaponar Desh', which is the ' State Anthem of Assam.This 'Uncrowned King' of Assamese literature died on 26th March 1938.

                SRIMANTA SANKARDEV Srimanta Sankardev was the preacher and founder of Navavaishnavism in Assam.He was born in1449 at Alipukhuri in Baradoa,Nagaon district.His father was Kusumbar Bhuyan and mother Satyasandhya.After the premature demise of his parents during his early childhood.Grandma Khersuti brought him up. At the age of 12,he joined the 'Tol' of Mahendra Kandali for education.Guru Mahendra Kandali gave him the title of 'Dev' after his education at Mahendra Kandali's 'Tol' was over.His wife's name was Surjyawati.With the help of 'Ankiya Naat' and 'Bhaouna',he tried to initiate romanticism in Assam and worked tiredlessly to intigrate the various class and caste of people under the same roof of vaishnav.Some of his famous works are Rukminiharan,Patniprasad,Kaliyodomon,Keligopal,Ajamil Upakhyan,Parijat Haran,Rambijay etc.His biggest achievement was 'The Kirtan' which became a milestone in Assamese literatur...
